Forbes: iOS 9 Can Delete And Restore Apps Automatically To Free Up Space For Software Updates
Apple recently released the second beta of iOS 9 and a hidden feature was discovered by 16-year-old app developer Kaleb Butt. When Butt was updating his device to iOS 9 beta 2, he discovered that his device was able to temporarily delete apps to free up space for the software update. This feature is especially useful if you own a 16GB iPhone or iPad.

If you do not have enough free space on your iOS device while installing iOS 9, then a dialog box will pop up — which says: “In order to make room for the software update, some apps will need to be temporarily deleted. All deleted apps will automatically be replaced after the update is complete. Would you like to continue?” The deleted apps will be restored with its data once the software update is completed.
