I am doing some paid work next week which will get me around $500 so I want to consider purchasing a forum software for a forum I am wanting to make.

Which would you say is better? And which would you recommend for me to use? Please only choose one software and give me a reason or two as to why I should purchase that specific one.

IPB, XenForo, or vBulletin. It would be the latest version for whichever one I purchase.

vBulletin would be my last choice. They're ownership has changed hands several times and most of their original developers have left, some went go work on XenForo instead, which is like the future generation of vB. Most vB boards I've been a member of have converted to XF by now as well. vBulletin is dying a slow death.

well..after that, dont waste your money on vb. But look into zetaboards premium, unless youre not a fan of zeta like iam

Zeta is a free remotely hosted software. Cant download it and run it on your own server. No access to the database, backups or anything. Premium just entitles you to no ads a couple extra features.

researching on google..looks like XF is good choice. Coming in second is mybb followed by IPB

Gotta wait til the new ipb comes out, which is soon I think. :|
