Is 40 old?

When a person gets to be in their 40's, do you think that is the beginning of old age for them?
When a person hits 60 is when I think they are getting older. I think 40 is still young and your quality of life is still usually pretty good.

Being in your 40s isn't old, but it's a time when the body starts to change a bit. You might notice your metabolism slowing down. Muscle mass and strength can gradually decrease, and bones might become less dense. Your skin may start to lose elasticity, and you may have more difficulty reading small print.

Men might experience a decrease in testosterone, while women may go through menopause. Energy levels and stamina might decline, and some people may experience slight changes in memory.

But other than that, being in your 40s isn't old. :D

I don't know if 40 is old, exactly. I don't feel old for the most part. It's been rather painful for me, though, and sometimes I feel old physically.

To me, 40 is the ideal age. Not too young and not too old. You are old enough to be mature but still young enough to have fun. If I could remain permanently at the same age forever, it would be 40.

My niece would have been 40 this year if she'd lived.

Old is always the decade after the one I am in. :D (I turn 60 next year so the goalpost shifts to 70 ;))

But no, I would never see 40 as old. Beginning of middle aged, perhaps, but I was certainly a lot more spry and youthful then. No diabetes or arthritis yet.
