Personally, I hate idle chat irl. I love chatting online though. Why? Because it’s letting me choose and think about what to say without blurting out the first thing that comes to mind. It’s also letting me edit and change my mind. I love typing it out with a device. Great with languages, reading, music, art and writing, just hate chit-chatting irl myself.

this coming from someone who is verbal when engaged in a good conversation but struggles to initiate.

Well I suppose the internet is a good thing for people who don't want actual human interaction but also want to connect with humans in a less direct way.
