Ever see an ad so bad you want to throw your remote through the TV? Tired of every light beer commercial you've seen in the past five years?
Then you're ready for the Tracy Awards, an ad industry website that fetes the worst, most confounding and comically ill-conceived ads of the year.
Created by Tracy Crowell, president of Crowell Advertising in Salt Lake City, the Tracy Awards will recognize an as-yet-undetermined number of bad ads, mailing out cheap plastic trophies -- resale value, 37cents --to advertisers whose products have been so dismally represented.
The number of trophies sent out, according to Crowell, depends on the number of ads nominated, and so far it looks like a lot of trophies will be going out. Crowell has been posting a bevy of notable submissions, or what he calls the cream of the crap.
And there's a lot of crap out there.
Take, for example, the Quiznos ad featuring three minstrel cats plodding through a jingle as though they've been mainlining heroin all day. The shrill voice alone is enough to send a viewer straight over to that other sub shop for a $5 Footlong.
