Worst: I applied for a cashier position with a local store that was opening in a few months time. I got an interview, turned up early dressed to the nines, and was polite and respectful... apart from one, niggling issue.
The interviewer had something wrong with his left eye. It kept spasming and darting all over the place, and never stayed in one spot for long. I couldn't help but watch it, and I'm pretty sure that cost me the position.
Most memorable: Applied for a cashier/stockroom position at a sort of "one-size-fits-all" store where they sold pretty much everything. I met with the manager on the shop floor and he took me upstairs for the interview. Up four flights of stairs, to be precise. Then down a bunch of corridors, culminating in a small storeroom with no windows, and oddly enough, no chairs. The interview was conducted with myself sitting on a pile of cardboard boxes, and him sitting on a stack of paint cans. That was odd.
Best: When I got my first job, I didn't really have an interview so to speak. I passed in my CV, and the next day I got a phonecall asking for me to come in, so I did. I got 15 minutes of training on the till, and then told my shift starts on Sunday at 9AM. I was just like what
No questions or anything, I just... instantly got it, basically.
