Alright, since that news thread I made awhile back was trashed due to reasons I won't go into. I've decided to make a new one. However, there's gonna be a few stipulations to avoid any issues like with the last thread. Leave whatever personal information you may know about another OUT of this thread. There is no need to attack someone or even air out their issues. If you're just going to outright continue to 'crap' on the subject in question. There's obviously no need in you continuing to say something since you aren't bothering to see the other person's stand point. And actually bother to talk with a few Lo's/Lette's instead of being ignorant and crapping on the whole thing. Learning is fundamental after all.You don't like these stipulations? Feel free to say something. In a personal message that is.

ANYWAYS.

Juggalos, gang related or just unfortunately mis-labeled? As one, I feel we are mis-labeled cause of a few idiots doing gang related things. Yes, a good deal of songs are violent and the like. And I can see why some would feel there isn't really a message of peace. And I freely admit to thinking there is cause of the song Thy Unveiling.

Just because there have been crimes linked to Juggalos doesn't mean all are criminals. The same can be attributed to religious people, the Big Four, etc.

In the case for the Juggalos, I'll just say they're a fandom.

They look like a gang to be honest and for most that's enough to label them as one. You then throw in a few criminals in for good measure and you can hardly tell a gang apart from what appears to be a gang. Perhaps they should wonder just what people should see them as when they paint their faces and sing such elegant melodies such as 'fuck the world' besides a group of violent gang members.

This is the lyrics for fuck the world if anyone was interested in knowing what they are. http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/icpinsaneclownposse/fucktheworld.html

As for what I think, I don't know nor do I care as long as the thugs in their group stay far away from my city.

Having known some juggalos in real life, I do not think they are gang-related. The juggalos I've known do not go out and commit crimes. They work, go to school, and live their lives like anyone else. It's simply about the music.

The word gang heavily implies the stigma of organized crime. Then again, in the music industry gang could be another word for a collective consciousness (for lack of a better word). Collective consciousness forms a marketable image: Insane Clown Posse (a posse of killer clowns), Wu-Tang Clan (a clan of killer bees), Boot Camp Clik (a crooklyn clique).

That whole fuck the world mentality is certainly not uncommon in the world of music, and has been adopted by many would-be mainstream artists throughout the history of music both past and present. Leadbelly is a famous example who was picked straight from Angola prison and chosen because of this outlaw image. Early punk had thrived on that whole aura, look at artists like Johnny Rotten and the Sex Pistols. Before the world knew Lil Wayne, he had the same image going for him with the Hot Boys. But, again it's easy to see how the anti-establishment message could be mis-construed as violence.

I've always thought the face makeup was for showmanship. Not unlike that of say Sting, the Blue Man Group, or the early jazz minstrel artists like Al Jolson who painted up in blackface.

You say you are a Juggalo.

In what way are you a Juggalo?

How can violent songs contain a message of peace?

Can you give us an example of a violent song that conveys peace?

I just think they are a bunch of idiots.

In what way you ask? The fact I've enjoyed the music since I first heard it. Can't really give an answer for the second question. As for the third, listen to Halls of Illusions. While there's violence in it, it clearly shows how better things would be if you were a good person. I'm not saying its exactly a message of peace conveying though.

I am probably failing to give good answers, and I am sorry for that.

Why is that?

The music is complete garbage.

Fucking magnets, how do they work

Come on.

I'm not sure about much of their music, but everything I've heard of is just.... their songs just sound stupid (I'm basing most of this off the track miracles).

Try some Brother Ali, People Under The Stairs, Immortal Technique, KRS-One, Notorious B.I.G., A Tribe Called Quest etc.

I'll bend you over, and tie you up to a pole

And stretch your nuts back, and flick 'em up your butthole!

-House of Horrors

True lyrical genius.

OT: I'm of a similar opinion to Temerit, in that the majority of them are idiots. Claiming to be a whole other clique simply because you like one band is stupid. Acting the way most seem to is stupid. Claiming their music means anything aside from making money is stupid. They don't have deep messages ingrained in their lyrics. They're doing it for shock value.

I stuck her with my wang

She hit me in the balls

I grabbed her by her neck and I bounced her off the walls

She said it was an accident and then apologized

But I still took my elbow and blackened both her eyes

-I Stuck Her With My Wang

Or

What is a juggalo?

He's a graduate

He graduated from....well

At least, he got a job

He's not a dumb puts

He works for himself scratching his nuts

-What Is A Juggalo?

Or

And then, I went inside to make a phone call

And there she was with her titty hanging out her bra

One thing just led to another

Next thing you know, I'm butt-fucking your mother

-Please Don't Hate Me

I could go on. Their proclaimed lyrical genius is a complete lie.

Also, they are classified as a criminal gang. http://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/publications/2011-national-gang-threat-assessment

You started this thread: Juggalos, gang related or just unfortunately mis-labeled?

You also stated that you are a Juggalo. Yet when asked questions, you cannot answer them.

How are we, non-Juggalos, ever going to be convinced they are NOT gang related? Seems to me, that you can't even answer your own question.

Jerry Springer did it for shock value as do most daytime talk shows, how many of Dr. Oz's shows are to make housewives say oh my?

So from that standpoint, the ICP groupies are nothing more than that, in whiteface.

I don't think I've actually listened to Miracles. But I would suggest trying other songs before fully deciding all the songs sound stupid. And also, thanks on the suggestions!

I've never said their lyrical ability is genius o.0. And yes, I know all about the classification. But really, they only did that cause of what a few idiots did.

As I mentioned to Doc once, there may be something I might not be able to answer cause I may not be able to have an answer. I know I was able to answer your first and third questions. I haven't really been able to focus on making a good answer with the second due to other things that's been on my mind.

As for Shiro, I can understand from her view point on why she thinks a certain way. I know full well that different people are going to have different opinions. I'm not gonna flame her or whatever for that. Way I see it, you either get the whole thing. Or you don't. I will say however, I don't agree however about her comment about how its just about the money. It might be to them, but we the Juggalos don't see it that way. It brought us together, and while there may or may not be the possibility that ICP and the other label mates just see the Ka-Ching. Why worry over that? I know a lot of folks love the older stuff. Heck, I don't even care for the fact they have Cold 187 with them. And its mostly cause of how his voice sounds high pitched.

Kinda hard to take a song he does seriously cause of his voice.

After checking out their lyrics..... Their, I guess you could call it a celebration of violence is no more or less outrageous than some of the so called gangsta rappers, and not too far removed from songs by AC/DC and some other metal acts.

So, to me, other than the face paint, which was done before, and better in some respects, by the KISS Army, all the fuss is overblown and calling attention to something which, except for a few individuals who take it far too seriously and act out what they hear, which happens with everything including TV shows, it should probably just be watched, and allowed to run its natural course.

Remember, there were once people who followed Frank Sinatra from town to town singing Mack the Knife (another song that celebrates murder) with tons of hair grease on their head. Did they ever kill anybody, we may never know, but they did try to emulate 'ol blue eyes' as much as possible.

And some of those very same groupies are probably now the ones complaining about the Juggalos.

I was doing a Google search for Juggalos. I came across a guy who shares 89 things he learned by attending a gathering of Juggalos. Thought I would share this with all of you. Some of the 89 things are quite disturbing while others are quite funny.

@Sci: Have you ever attended a gathering? If so, are his 89 listed things correct in your opinion?

I stopped reading at #3. Anyone unintelligent enough to not know the difference between a car and a minivan/minibus doesn't deserve my time lol.

First time I had even read that. I knew it was around, just hadn't really looked at it. And no, I haven't attended a Gathering. I know its in August. But I doubt I will ever go. Mostly for one their ticket prices cost way too much.

Guess he didn't feel like specifying o.0. But gotta admit though, that is pretty epic!

@Sci: In another thread I read you were out for a walk. While you were walking you saw a cop. You then stated you thought the cop was going to stop you and give you crap for wearing an ICP shirt.

Why did you think that?

If you're expecting trouble, you probably deserve it.

Why did you think that?

I would imagine that on a general level, this would come from it being a stigmatized identity. Staying on the general plane, not to be confused with an aeroplane, it could also come from the relationship between the police force and status quo of society.

Shiro Tenshi Yuri said:

I would strongly disagree with this. The notion that the awareness of discrimination somehow validates and justifies said discrimination is one I consider most disagreeable.
