Just a reminder for long time PS4 users. My PS4 became sloooow yesterday. Friendlist took minutes to load, messaging someone would easely take a few minutes and some games actually were lagging.

Completely turn off your PS4 when this happens, press the button on the console to turn it on for 7 seconds until you hear a second beep to go in safe mode. Select 'Rebuild Database'.

This will take a few minuten at most, but your system will be a lot faster.

Are you sure this was not a general problem with the PS4 in general? I heard that a recent patch (2.01 I believe) made improvements to the messaging and friends list after various complaints about the delays in using these features.

Some PS4's have some issues. It can actually be because of a hardware issue. Not all of them. But rebuilding the data base doesn't always work since some times software issues occur mainly due to the power brick can go bad. Really if you start having really bad software issues and the PS4 shutting off or getting really slow. Best to send it in and use your warranty if its still active.
