My sting of bad luck has just went from bad to extreme. If you remember, I just posted about my tire blowing out on the freeway here: http://offtopix.com/showthread.php?t=3632

Well I just totaled my car on the way home from work! Im driving down the road and this car in front of me slams on his breaks and attempts to make a sharp U-Turn from the all the way in far right lane. The turn lane was two lanes over. Anyways I see him doing that and I slam on my breaks, the road was wet and I slid about 50 feet and rammed right into the side of him. My front axle it totally destroyed and all of my engine fluids were leaking out everywhere, so who knows whats screwed up in there. I am afraid to pop my hood because I probably wont be able to shut it again. The air bags came out extremely fast and hurt my left wrist, it feels burned. There was all this dust coming from the air bags as well. It filled the car and I started hacking and coughing. I thought it was smoke and the car was on fire so I get out and start running away from the car (thinking it might explode) and I almost get hit by a car driving by in the process.

His car wasn't too damaged as it was a big Van.

Anyways I called the police and they came out and made a report. The cop said he is going to write it like the other guy was at fault (because he pretty much was, but I hit him from the back. 99% of the time the person who hits another person from the back is at fault. Hopefully I will be that 1%)

Guess we will see how it all goes in court.

For now I don't have a car....

I had to have my car towed and it is sitting in my drive way all mangled up with the air bags popped out. I'm sure my neighbors / landlord are going to be full of questions.

I am going to take the $500 I have in the bank and hit the police impound lots and tow yard to look for a cheap car in the morning.

This totally f**king sucks.

Damn, I can't imagine what is going to be in store for you tomorrow, hopefully nothing bad. It could have been a lot worse - you could have been killed or injured. So glad you're OK. It's just a car and can be replaced, your life can't.

And the 'dust' from the airbags is totally normal. It's just what happens when they inflate in a split second.

Hopefully I will get lucky. I bought the car I just wrecked for only $700 at an impound lot. Its was a 1999 Plymouth in good shape.. Ran well.. Was only 10 years old.

I am glad I am still alive and not badly injured.. I hope they find the other guy at fault otherwise my insurance will go through the roof. His insurance was expired so I doubt I will ever see any money (if I do it wont be for a while) if it is determined that he was at fault.

That sucks

. Hopefully things get better from now, and you should feel lucky. Sorry to hear that.

Hope everything comes through ok bro - remember, it's just a car.

And i'll chuck up some prayers for a resolution to this too.

You hit him from the side at least, not the back. I think that, legally, you'll be cut some slack, because that points to him making the wrong call of turning suddenly, instead of you tailgating him.

Anyway, it still sucks. Sorry to hear it, man.

That must have been so scary for you!

Wow, this is awful. I hope you can get this all settled out in court. Here's a tip: There are insurance companies out there that don't rise your payments everytime you're in an accident, so you might want to look into those.

Oh wow.. That's extremely unfortunate. Sorry Nebulous, I hope you find another car, and I'm sure if the crash was unavoidable, insurance shouldn't be a problem. Stay strong and surrender to life, it'll only get better from here. Good luck and keep your chin up high.

Went looking around today I seen a 1999 Chevy Malibu that was really nice for $1500

It had low mileage for a 10 year old car..

Looks sort of like this:

A little out of my price range but if I cant find anything good, I will borrow the other 800 from someone or try to get them to let me pay half now and half on the 1st of the month.

Going to hit up the other tow yards / police impound lots in the morning.

That sucks Nebulous, at least you made it out alive.
