Justin Bieber has been ordered to pay $80,900 (£47,000) in damages and undergo anger management sessions after his neighbour's home was pelted with eggs.

The Canadian pop star pleaded no contest to misdemeanour vandalism and was sentenced to two years' probation.

The 20-year-old also has to carry out five days of community service work and undergo 12 weekly anger management sessions in what the district attorney called a negotiated settlement.

He also has to stay away from the victim and his family for two years.

In January, the singer's then-neighbour called 911 to report that eggs were being thrown over a fence from Bieber's home in upscale Calabasas, California.

Bieber, who was represented by his lawyer, did not have to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court as it was a misdemeanour case.

"Justin is glad to get this matter resolved and behind him," Bieber's representatives said in a statement.

"He will continue to move forward focusing on his career and his music."

Surveillance footage appeared to show Bieber high-fiving friends after the egging, police said.

Investigators had pressed for him to face a felony charge because the eggs allegedly caused $20,000 of damage to the mansion.

Bieber has since moved from the gated community.

This jerk needs to learn a lesson and be sent to jail. All he keeps getting is a slap on the wrist.

prolly not the right place for him to live if he's having all these late night get togethers. That fine is small change for him as well & got his name in the paper :coffee:

Sent to jail over egging? This is already a ridiculous punishment.

It's not just egging:
The incident was the first in a string of arrests and legal problems for the former teen idol. He is still facing two other criminal cases.

The Grammy-nominated singer was also charged with drunken driving in a yellow Lamborghini, resisting arrest and driving without a valid licence in January in Miami, Florida.

The same month he turned himself in to authorities in Toronto, Canada, on a charge of assaulting a limousine driver in late December.

If it were you or me, our butts would definitely be behind bars.

Sounds like he was showing off to his friends. Trying to be a big man or something.

:Lame:

For $80k I'd let him egg my house.

I don't see how throwing eggs at a house causes $80,000 in damage. It's immature for sure, but even if the windows were breaking, $80,000? Seriously?

Then again, the whole thing has probably taught him a lesson... hopefully.

Eggs can damage paint, maybe they needed to repaint their house and get new windows. ...or maybe that's all "pain & suffering" money for the "victims" :P

With any luck, he'll do something stupid while on probation.

could be on a downward spiral although it can't be because people aren't buying tickets to his shows. I'm not a fan :!: , for obvious reasons :P , but just making an observation
