Are young people less polite than they used to be?

If so, why is this?

Some are more polite, others are less polite. Always have been.

Off topic.......but: A young man, 25-ish, not only made my day, maybe even made my whole year!
I have not had a successful blood draw for two years, many, many attempts, but no success. The young man, a phlebotomist, so quickly & expertly "nailed it". I was on the verge of just flat refusing any more attempts. :D

That is awesome!!

I'd say it's the same level of rudeness as always, just people are more alert to things that they find hurtful, so...

Thank You, Ladies! No kidding, made my day! I am so impressed with some of the young folks (kids) I happen to run across. :)

Nice! Glad you found someone who can do their job!

Most of the ones I come across tend to be more on the rude side. There are that select few that can be quite polite though.

Peer pressure, raging hormones, insecurities, wanting to be 'cool', etc. are probably all contributing factors to the rudeness of the younger generation.

I've always found the younger generation rude. I don't like kids at all.

Sounds like you're describing middle school kids. They are the worst!

It's majorly down to how parents brought up their kids. I know that the society plays its own role in child's life with its influences, but when the parents fail woefully in making sure their kids are polite and well mannered, they will all be a bunch of twats.

The problem just isn't with children. Manners are a rarity anymore these days. People are often polite only when they want something and don't really care about their self image.

Not necessarily. A child could have been raised perfectly and had all the correct values instilled in them but still turn out to be a rude asshole. People need to take personal responsibility for their behavior and not blame parents for everything.

Yes, the worst time of my life dealing with those types of people.

I kind of agree and disagree about how the parents raised them. I was raised to be polite, kind, and respectful and I don't think many people ever considered me a jerk. Then again, society can have an influence on you depending on which crowds and type of people you hang around. You could very well be hanging around toxic people that make you feel the pressure to act as they are. If you're always feeding yourself negativity and toxic-ness on the internet, that too could have an effect on your behavior I think.

It's a nice cop out for the kids. They get to dodge being held accountable when people going to enable the kid's shitty behavior by openly shaming the parents instead. At some point it's up to people to hold children accountable for the bad choices they make. Quit stupidly blaming the parents. You're just giving the kid an out by pointing the finger in the wrong direction.
