Lady Gaga has unveiled a high-tech vehicle dubbed the world's first flying dress on the eve of her third album launch.
The 27-year-old singer, real name Stefani Germanotta, was lifted several feet off the ground by a contraption called Volantis inside a huge New York building, where she held a party for her new album Artpop.
The battery-powered device, which features a flat disk and a moulded body suit, propelled her around 20ft through the air before she landed in Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Artpop goes on sale from today after a delay following a hip injury.
She has described the album as a "celebration and a poetic musical journey" marked by a "lack of maturity and responsibility".
She added: "It's not really about me at all ... this is not about money and mass production.
"It's about moving the world away from a place of vanity and ego."
The first single from the album, Applause, was released on August 12 and reached number five in the British singles chart.
It peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100.
