You'll usually see these at convenience stores by the register..

Do you ever use these? Do you ever leave change or take some when you need it?

I usually use my debit card for most transactions so I don't really use them. But if I do have change in my pockets, I'll leave a penny or two in there just because..

The local store here as one and I always use it and always add to it. I always thought it was helping good people that were short a penny or so.

Throughout the year, I throw all my spare change in a large metal popcorn tin that I keep in my office. At the end of each year, I dump the tin and count the change in it. Pain in the butt to wrap all the coins but last year there was $438.57 in the tin. This is money I never missed by throwing it in the tin and I use this extra money to buy something I want or need. :)

So, the answer to the OP questions would be no to leaving or taking change.

Not where I live.

Oh, well they are cool, you dump all your change in there and it counts it all for you! Then you get cash. They do keep a small percentage of the money though as a fee.

I knew there had to be a catch. I'd rather wrap my own and get all of it!

Most banks now have a machine in the lobby doesn't charge you. I save up change and go there. I think you need an account though.
