Life changing books

Well... Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies helped add a concrete foundation to my idea that, as the sub-text says, the fates of human societies had to do more with environment than the people themselves. For example, those who grew up on continents that stretch wide north to south while being narrow on the sides could not as effectively communicate, while those on the opposite type of continent could spread ideas and goods more easily, which was a factor in the speed of communal development. As for why the distribution of the continent was so noteworthy, there was, for example, the many climates in between that would be hazardous to travel for those living in the continents spread out between the northern and southern hemispheres.
