Tonight my friend is coming over and we're going to watch the movie. Just wondering if any of you have seen it. If so, did you like it?

How was the movie?

I loved this movie! I had thought the focus would be on the Civil War but I was wrong. The focus of this movie was Lincoln's push to get the 13th amendment accepted. The battles he went through to get this done was not only with congress but his own family as well. This is a true history lesson and a reminder of the tremendous sacrifices to achieve freedom for ALL. The parallels between this movie and what's taking place right now in our government is almost scary. Outstanding performances by all the cast members but Daniel Day-Lewis makes you truly believe he is Lincoln. I would highly recommend this movie and as a matter of fact, I intend to see it again. Even though the movie is 2 hours and 30 minutes long, it didn't seem that way to me.

I'm hoping it does well at the Oscars this weekend. It's at least up for best picture, best director and best actor, possibly others. There's some tough competition though, so who knows.
