So earlier tonight, my sister and I almost really got into it over the fact she's not all that grateful for having the freedoms of being able to freely express herself and being able to do as she pleases *Within reason of course*. And how its so much better over in Korea cause they keep a better tight leash on their teens or some such. And how she intends to move there after High School.

Is this something I should have a concern over?

She is unhappy with having freedoms as a teenager and likes Korea because the parents are more strict on their teenagers over there?

If she moves there as an adult, she will have all the freedoms of an adult. She will be in the same situation.

If she wants some structure when she finishes high school, she should join the military.

I'm not understanding this at all. Does she think she has too much freedom right now? You posted that she's into Asian guys. Has she met a Korean guy that she's now dating? If so, this could be the reason she wants to move to Korean. If not, then I truly have no clue what this thread is trying to get across.

Yeah from what I understand, she feels kids in the US have too much freedoms. And no she isn't dating any Korean men. She just really likes the culture.

There's a sell on ducttape and shovels at Wal-Mart, what you do with those items is neither here nor there, and I will not judge.

I wouldnt worry about some random ramblings.. She wont go through with it.

She likes the culture? I could like African culture, doesn't mean i want to move to Kenya... I feel like the discussion got a little too heated and she said something she knew you wouldn't be happy with. I don't think she actually means to go through with it. Tell her if she likes the culture so much, she can reconstruct her room into a Korean style

Well she's been saying awhile now she intends to go there after High School. Hopefully the nicer side of the country. Which if she does her homework right, she will.

How is planning on paying for the travel, food, a place to live and other expenses?

A few friends of mine from college moved to South Korea a year ago and they love it there. It's apparently a pretty cool country, but you need to be properly schooled to find a job there as an immigrant.

I doubt she'll go through with it though. I wanted to get out of Belgium asap too when I was in high school, but it's hard to actually make that happen.
