I've shared a kitchen before with about five other families in a temporary housing facility.
Not ideal, to say the least, but was a good way to get acquainted; and experiences like that are a good way to learn patience.
Glad it was only for a short time.

I suppose I was in a shared living situation for a week with all my classmates when I was in middle school. We went to outdoor education camp.
What caused you to be in that situation?

Never really thought about whether or not I liked it; I just was one.
Oh to be young and stupid again. Back to the question: Looking back, I'd say 50/50.

Did you get stationed overseas?
Yes; the Philippines.
How was it over there?
IMO....the cities I saw were ugly; the 'off the beaten trail' places were beautiful and wonderful. The swimming hole was great; there were all kinds of colorful tropical fish in bright, clear water just swimming around close to you. People, on the whole, were very, very poor; and friendly.
The climate had two seasons; the wet season, and the dry season....it rained for six months straight, then no rain for six months.
(something like that, I'm 'rounding off'
