There are some good ones around at the moment. I'd highly recommend Stuka Squadron (they've recently been featured on both Metal Hammer's and Classic Rock's cover CDs - despite having only released one EP!) and Godsized for starters. I'll add some more here when I think of them
Most Aussies just piss off to the US or UK or some other country. I understand why though.
Tame Impala, they sort of play psychedelic music, it's real different to most of the stuff you get nowadays. If you like early Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett Pink Floyd, you might like Tame Impala.
And apart from that, Behind Crimson Eyes [their new album took over Melbourne JB Hi-Fi for a bit I thought] are also fair decent but they don't play many underage shows anymore. Actually, NO BLOODY BAND PLAYS UNDER 18 SHOWS.
I'm not really into most of our local bands though, and as said most bands which play shows in Melbourne don't cater for the U18 audience unless they're Short Stack...and I would rather cut eat my arm off than listen to Short Stack live.
