Before getting sent off for trying to stick his head inside Marco Materazzi's chest in the 2006 World Cup final, Zidane daringly chipped a penalty kick off the crossbar (a nearly flubbed attempt at a Panenka) for the first goal of the game. In Sunday's Rio state championship between Botafogo and Flamengo in Brazil, Sebastian Loco Abreu, himself usually an expert at the Panenka, pulled off a near identical penalty kick off the bar (1:05 into the video above) in the 73rd minute to give Botafogo what would be the winning goal in the 2-1 match to decide the Carioca title. A gutsy choice, and one that would have surely resulted in unspeakable doom at the hands of Botafogo fans had he missed.
Funny, you'd expect something a bit more practical from a guy named Loco.
Zidane's World Cup chip right down here for comparision...
