Do you think lyrics are important in a song or do they not matter much?

Why or why not?
 
They are important, I actually pay attention to lyrics and if they don't make sense, it kind of takes me out of the song.
 
As a lyricist myself, yes. Most instrumentals are boring.
 
I think they're important, but it's tremendous to me when a song uses nothing but instruments and can evoke emotion just as powerful as spoken word.
