Hey Off Topix!! Almost an hour ago, I got home from my vacation to San Antonio, Texas!! It was great!
We left Sunday at about 9AM...I got to drive the beginning 1/3 of the trip...drove almost to Dallas (stopped at the outskirts of Dallas), then I switched with my mom. We stopped a few times along the way...got to our hotel in San Antonio at about 5PM and went straight for the pool. We swam and then we went down to the Riverwalk and ate dinner. The Riverwalk is this awesome place in downtown San Antonio...it's a man-made river and it's gorgeous...there are restaurants and stores along the way...ducks, too!!
On Monday, we went to SeaWorld.
It's the first time I've been there since I was maybe 6 years old...so I was excited. We watched this Pirate 4D movie, rode a few roller coasters, saw Shamu and the other killer whales in 2 different shows, and went to the water park part of SeaWorld. In the first Shamu show, we didn't get splashed (we sat in the Splash Zone every time), but in the second show that night, we sat in a different area and got SOAKED...it was saltwater and extremely cold. In the first show, we learned that one of the killer whales gave birth back in January and in the second show, we saw the baby swimming around with her mother...it was amazing.
On Tuesday, we went to SeaWorld again. The weather wasn't as nice as it was on Monday...it rained around noon, but got sunny in the afternoon. We watched the rest of the shows (sea lions, beluga whales, dolphins, and some others). We even got to feed the dolphins and see the sharks and fish in the aquarium. The two oldest of my brothers and I went to ride one of the rides we rode on Monday, the Steel Eel. There aren't any loops, but it has a lot of hills...your stomach would drop and it'd drop again on the next hill before it could get settled. This time, however, some lady in one of the back carts (we were in the front) had a camera out and they stopped the carts in the middle of the first hill - the biggest. It was scary. We saw the same two Shamu shows that we did the day before...the first one didn't go as well...the animals weren't cooperating, but the second show was much better than the one the day before.
Today, we went to the Alamo. I wasn't so excited...I've been there twice before, but we did learn a bit in the tour. We walked about 7 blocks away to the Mexican market and ate lunch and shopped in the market...was fun. We decided to take the trolley back (was NOT going to walk again lol), but after about 2 stops, the driver had to lower the handicap ramp and it got stuck halfway and wouldn't work. We all got off (except for the handicap guy...I felt so bad) and walked the rest of the way...the cops in San Antonio made the driver direct traffic because we were parked in the actual lane and there were a ton of cars behind us. We found our way back to the Alamo, but then we couldn't find where we parked. XD After searching a bit, we found it and left...and now we're home!!
