A US man is suing a hospital after he woke up from anaesthetic wearing a pair of women's pink panties.

Andrew Walls, 32, of Magnolia, Delaware, says he was not wearing the garment when he arrived at the Delaware Surgery Centre in Dover for a colonoscopy.

Mr Walls, who worked at the hospital, is seeking damages for what his lawyer called an "outrageous prank" by his former colleagues.

He says the prank caused him "shame, embarrassment and personal humiliation", forcing him to quit his job because of "severe emotional stress".

Legal papers obtained by The News Journal say: "When the plaintiff recovered from the effects of the anesthesia administered by defendants, he awoke to realise that while he was unconscious pink women's underwear had been placed on his body.

"When the plaintiff initially presented for his colonoscopy he had not been wearing pink women's underwear and at no time did the plaintiff voluntarily, knowingly or intentionally place the pink women's underwear upon himself."

Delaware Surgery Centre director Jennifer Anderson declined to comment.

Quite an overreaction on his part, in my opinion.

What do you think?

I think he has more problems then he realizes as his reaction says a lot more about himself if this one harmless act can do so much damage suggests he was emotionally fragile to begin with. That's no one's fault but himself through putting too much stock into the opinions of others to the point that he made their opinion the benchmark of his self worth.

I'm sure nobody would have ever known about it (besides the hospital staff assigned to him) if he just laughed it off. Why make a huge deal? Put on some regular underwear and move on. :dontknow:

I disagree with most of you here tbh.

If it were a pink jacket, then fine.

But underwear? That means his personal area was 'messed with' to pull the prank, I'm not saying it is in anyway a sexual assault because it isn't, but it's definitely beyond a line that shouldn't be crossed.

That and he put his safety in control of these people when he accepted the anesthetic, they took advantage of that and messed around.

He had a colonoscopy.

That means that his "personal area" was on the menu.

But in any case, It was a stupid stunt, the clinic is on the hook for it, and somebody, or several somebodies, should be fired for it.
