"Pride" is not a sex specific trait and can get to the point of unjustified arrogance in short order in either.
If you 'hurt his feelings', he probably had it coming as he more than likely hadn't been told 'no' very often as a child.

I've met women like that. Although some were reacting to the institution of male pride (male chauvinism, machismo).
Attaching gender to abstractions is dangerous in my opinion; such as how some people attach emotion to femininity. There is a difference between constructs of social interactions and inherent nature.
