A man was banned from Facebook for being homophobic after posting a comment about his favourite childhood dish which read, ‘I like faggots’, just a week after the site lifted a ban on videos of beheadings.
Robert Wilkes, 54, was referring to the traditional British meat balls which are usually made from butchers’ off-cuts minced together with onion and breadcrumbs but he was blocked from the site for 12 hours after other users complained about his language, which can be used as offensive slang for gay men in the US.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: “It may have a different meaning in America but I used it in a food context.
“Facebook allows beheading videos, cruelty to animals, stabbing and terrible swear words – but not this. It’s political correctness gone mad.”
The former Ministry of Defence guard, who lives with wife Tracy, in Taunton, Somerset, posted his comment after Eileen Perrin had her account locked for 12 hours for posting a picture of savoury dish on the social media site.

How can a comment 'I like faggots' be homophobic?
Can someone please explain this to me?
