Suspect charged with dropkicking woman carrying baby in the Bronx speaks out

BRONX, N.Y. (WABC) --
Police have arrested the man they say brutally kicked and robbed a woman in the Bronx, an incident that was caught on surveillance video.

The suspect, 18-year old Alonzo Brown, spoke with Eyewitness News following the arrest Tuesday.

"I'm sorry," said Brown. ("Who are you saying that to, the lady?", we asked.)

"The lady and the baby, I didn't know it was the baby that was there," he said.

("You didn't see the baby?") "I didn't see the baby," he said.

("When did you find out there was a baby?") "When she hit the floor," he said.

Brown is facing multiple charges, including robbery, attempted robbery, assault, and act in a manner injurious to a child.

He is charged with running up behind Odila Orozco and drop kicking the 24-year old, who fell to the ground.

Brown has 11 prior arrests, five of which are sealed.

Who drop kicks a woman? Honestly? Was he holding her and then dropped her and kicked her? I imagine it to be like what one might do to a football. That's terrible, though. Lock this guy's ass up for a long, long time.

I am really beginning to believe in punishments that mirror what the criminals have done. Guy rapes someone, well he gets raped. You murder someone you die the same way it was done. You drive drunk and kill someone in your car you get hit with another car. Take something that does not belong to you chop a hand off.

"When Khaliq dragged me away, I said, `Khaliq, I am like a sister to you,' " said Mukhtaran Bibi, 28, who is now a thin, sleepless and frightened woman. "He did not listen to me. I even said, `In the name of the Koran, please forgive me.' I asked the whole council for forgiveness, to save my honor."

"But nobody listened," she said. "They took me inside. And they raped me."

Gang rape, horrifying as it is, is not uncommon in this part of southern Punjab. What has shocked Pakistan is that a tribal council here, for the first time anyone can remember, decreed gang rape as a punishment to avenge an episode of illicit sex — one that probably never happened in the first place.

Being civilized with those kinds of people anymore is over rated and way past do for our justice system to take it up a notch on people who hurt others. I mean for christ sakes they halted a execution in Texas for tomorrow because they say he does not understand what he has done. He killed a innocent person and it is time to put him down like a rabid dog!

And as for gang rape yes all those men should get the same treatment back and then either shot by a firing squad or hung with a rope. Either one is good.
