A man fractured his skull when he fell 15ft (4.5m) from a railing at a football match.

He was watching Leicester City's 3-0 victory against Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park.

Police believe the man, in his early 20s and from Leicester, was trying to stand on the railing when he fell into an exit way.

He was taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: He was on his own, nobody pushed him, it seems to be an accident.

A spokeswoman for the hospital said: He is quite comfortable.

What an idiot! He's very lucky his only injury was a fractured skull. He could have wound up a paraphalegic or quadrpalegic for the rest of his life. Hopefully his injury has knocked some sense in his head!
