Man parks wingless plane outside Aussie pub to get a drink.
A man who taxied a light plane down a street in Australia, and parked it at a pub while he went inside for a drink, has been charged by police.

The 37-year-old man, a resident of Newman, Western Australia, wheeled the wingless Beechcraft two-seater into the car park of the local bar on Friday afternoon.

He then casually stepped into the pub and ordered a drink.

Police suspect the stunt was a Halloween prank, and officers questioned the man when they spotted the conspicuous vehicle in the parking lot.

He passed an alcohol breath test at the scene and, while he admitted that he did not own a pilot’s licence, the plane had not left the ground or caused any accidents.

Eventually, the police contented themselves with charges relating to endangering human life, with Sergeant Mark McKenzie telling reporters the propeller of the plane had been operating and posed a threat.

Having said that, not every police officer was taking it seriously.

The man faces Newman Magistrate’s Court on November 18

Sergeant McKenzie said: ‘It was a pretty stupid thing to do. Kids were coming home from school. It could have been very ugly. All he needed was one gust of wind… because without the wings, it’s not stable.’

Displaying an Australian’s renowned penchant for understatement, Sergeant Mark Garner referred to the unnamed pilot as being ‘one of our local characters’.
 
the police just want to lock everyone up for anything...  :tdown:

now, if, and a big if someone did get hurt by the blades in front then i could see public endangerment...
