A US man has launched a court challenge for the right to marry his "porn-filled" laptop.

Chris Sevier filed a 50-page motion to the 10th US Circuit Court of Appeal because he was denied the right to marry his MacBook "machine spouse" by Utah officials.

He argues the love he has for the "porn-filled" Apple device is no different to that shared between gay partners.

The move is an intervention in a separate lawsuit challenging the state's same-sex marriage ban.

In his motion, Mr Sevier wrote: "They discriminated against me when they rejected my request to marry my computer.

"I approached the Utah clerk to have a marriage licence issued for me and my machine-spouse.

"The clerk denied my request for a marriage licence ... my object of affection was outside the scope of the narrow definition."

He added: "If anything, my marriage to a machine possesses less of a risk, since a possible acrimonious divorce proceeding could be avoided, if the marriage fails."

Last year Mr Sevier filed a lawsuit trying to intervene in similar circumstances in Florida.

The judge threw out his challenge, suggesting it was "removed from reality" and saying it had "no place" in the ongoing lawsuit.

Mr Sevier has previously tried to sue TV network A&E for firing Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson in the wake of homophobic comments.

And he also attempted to claim damages from Apple for failing to add a "safe mode" to his computer, which he said led to his pornography addiction.

Your thoughts?

not sure why it goes from allowing rational two adult human beings getting married into marriages between one that can consent and one that can't - be it a machine or whatever.

love =/= lust

What he has is lust not love and he has no relationship for a relationship by definition is a two sided affair and what he wants to marry does not nor can ever return the feelings he has for it.

He should be shown to have no case and this should be dismissed. If it passes then the people who claimed that the approval of homosexual marriages would lead to demands to be able to marry inanimate objects among other things would have been proven true.

I guess we can't say we weren't warned of this when we went ahead with approving homosexuals marrying as that is exactly what he is using as his case for allowing what he wants to pass.

My thoughts are, 1] This man is obviously not in his right mind,

I agree. What would be the point of marrying his laptop? How would that help him in life?

I thought Plankton and Karen were already married. Hmm...

As long as Johnny Depp is not asking for government benefits like a married human couple gets more power to him and his happy marriage to the tree. O.o Will have to ask my wife later what he is saying in the video.

My thoughts are, 1] This man is obviously not in his right mind, and 2] this is the very sort of thing I've predicted would happen once insane things like 3 women marrying each other were allowed and gays being allowed to marry. Where does it end? To what degree do we allow morality be ignored and, in fact, destroyed? People will want to marry their dog, or their swimming pool, or a shrub. The sanctity of marriage is being turned into a joke. It's sad to see happening.

Britney Spears and high school friend Jason Allen Alexander, 2 days;
Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra, 9 days;
Gregg Allman and Cher, 9 days;
Rudolph Valentino and Jean Acker, 6 hours;
Robert Evans and Catherine Oxenberg, 12 days;
Jeremy Thomas and Drew Barrymore, 29 days;
Ethel Merman and Ernest Borgnine, 38 days;
Janet Jackson and James DeBarge, 4 months.

Just a handful of celebrity marriages, along with how long they lasted. Tell me, how is it that "the gays" are turning marriage into a joke? In most cases, we can't marry so I don't see how it's us ruining your picture-perfect view of a traditional family. The only ones ruining marriage are the people doing it for the wrong reasons, and guess what?

They're straight.

I'd like to see some backed up facts for your slippery slope fallacy there. Of course, there aren't any, because you're talking directly from your rectum.
