MediaTek's recently-introduced Helio X20 SoC series for high-end smartphones has reportedly received positive feedback from international smartphone vendors.

MediaTek's new 10-core chip solutions will likely attract orders from the company's existing clients including Sony, LG Electronics, HTC, ZTE, Lenovo and Meizu, according to industry sources. Huawei and Xiaomi have also expressed interest in MediaTek's Helio X20 chips, said the sources.

MediaTek specializes in SoC solutions for smartphones priced between CNY1,500 (US$241.75) and CNY2,000. The availability of its 10-core chips will enable the company to tap the market for smartphones priced above CNY3,000, the sources indicated.

In addition, with the launch of its Helio mobile-chip family, MediaTek is expected to see its product ASPs and gross margin improve, the sources noted. The company specializes in chip solutions for entry-level and mid-range smartphones.

In March 2015, MediaTek unveiled its Helio series mobile processors targeted at high-end smartphones. The first offering of the series is the X10, an 8-core, ARM Cortex-A53 processor.
