Do you think this would be a fun hobby? I see people doing it and Ive heard of people finding some valuable things but I dont think I would have the patience for it..

I think I have better things to be doing with my time than finding bottle caps with a metal detector.

You see tham at the beach where me and my Grandad and Grandma go. I couldn;t do it, but my Grandfather, when close to one, bends down and pretends to pick up something

I used to have a smaller one, which wasn't very professional, i think it would be fun to do on the beach.

I see people with these at the beach where I am. It looks boring to me and I don't think I'd want to try this.

I've got a medium quality one that I bought at a pawn shop several years ago.

I use it when we go camping and there's nothing else going on.

I've found some interesting stuff both in various campgrounds, on beaches, and even in one historic area we were at.

I don't use it enough to warrant spending a lot of money on a top quality one, but if this one played out I'd replace it with a similar unit.

I've seen guys at the beach with some serious treasure hunter hardware, but they never seem to find a whole lot more than I do with my old one from the pawn shop.

What kind of interesting things have you found? Anything of real value?

Nothing of real cash value.

This spring at the beach campground I found a metal salad style serving fork that was buried an inch or so deep in the sand. Its the kind of thing that if you dropped it, you'd pick it back up. So how did it end up there buried that deep?

I found a key blank for a security key on the beach one time. You know the kind that say do not make copies on them? You have to wonder how that ended up on the beach at least two miles from the nearest hardware store.

I've found a lot of metal tent stakes, pocket change, a toy car, and that sort of stuff. But no gold rings or silver bars.
