I quite like it and wonder if I should have used it instead of my first name. However, at 58, it's a bit late to be changing my preferred name. I do actually use it online in some places. Since I'm not generally called by it in real life, it's unlikely most people who know me in real life would associate it with me so it's more private than using my first name, the one I use day-to-day. I have even contemplated using it as a penname if I start publishing more seriously. It's a name that can be use as a given name or surname so I'd have a fair bit of flexibility with it.

I truly hate mine; the only time I would hear my middle name as a kid was when I'd do something wrong.....Mom would yell all three names out the door when my 'mis-deed' would be discovered.
Have always claimed "NMN"; my kids only know my middle name because one of them ran across my birth certificate.
That kid is sworn to secrecy under the threat of some kind of torture.

i don't necessarily dislike my middle name, but being a pyrophobe whose middle name involves fire in its meaning is kind of ironic. (Incidentally, my first name is tree related. So my full name basically makes me sound like a tree turned into a torch that has something to do with a hierarchal system/bird).

Fun story, in one of my specialty high schools, we weren't allowed to share our last names at all... but for some reason, it became a common game at lunch time to guess each other's middle names through our middle initials. Everyone was struggling with mine. A teacher, who hadn't heard a word of the conversation, asked to try... and got it on the first try. :'D

The funny thing about my initials is they're a form of encryption, and my dad worked in computers, including data security at some point. xD
Incidentally, they were almost a curse word. My dad had to fight my mom tooth and nail not to make my middle name "Sarah" like she wanted...
You can probably guess my initials from that with some research. xD
