Is mind separate from the body? Or is the mind simply a product of your brain?

It is separate. If one is in a vegetative state, there is no mind in operation or active but the body lives. The mind is the active working part of the brain...the part that can comprehend, evaluate, investigate, conclude. Just as a car can exist with a motor that doesn't work (it won't go anywhere) so too a body can exist without thought.

Isn't your brain part of your body though? Someone in a vegetative state obviously suffered brain damage and can be called brain dead...

Also, I can exist without a leg or arm, would you say they are separate as well?

there's one whole package, if you suffered brain damage and your mind doesn't work anymore you're dead, if the body dies the mind stops working as well.

Partially at least. (Reflexes)

I'll get back to you when I've figured out how to move every muscle in my body
