What are your thoughts on minimum wage? Should it be $15 an hour? $20? Does it depend on where you live?

I believe the current federal minimum wage is $7.25 but many states already do $15.

For people outside of the USA, whats your minimum wage like and is it fair?

Government should have no say on what a business owner and a person needing a job agree upon.

Minimum wage has ruined businesses and the chance to have many more people looking to start their own business.

It’s ruined the chance for young people to get jobs and have some life experience before going out into the world.

It’s made the old feel useless instead of feeling useful in society because businesses can no longer afford to hire these people who have a lifetime of experience.

And it’s made the lower class harder to get a job because businesses are going with automation instead of people.

And it’s just made inflation higher and prices higher for everything when government tries to play with the free market.

I somewhat agree with all that but at the same time if these employers paid a fair wage there would be no need for a minimum wage. A lot of people who run a business will exploit and take advantage of people who don’t have a lot of options when it comes to jobs. They’ll pay them peanuts and work them to death, then stick the next chump in their spot after they’ve discarded the last one.

Of course but that’s the exception not the standard. Plus what we have now is doing far more damage.

It should be at a minimum $15 an hour, people need to be able to live, at the moment living costs are through the roof.

Then prices and inflation just go up when you throw in a artificial price hike on businesses.

Agreed but what else is there to do to support the people?
Keep voting for people who have Trumps policies on the economy. He just spent a bit more than I like, like every damn president.

Votes do not count, it’s a scam. They go on a majority not an individual vote.

Well they still count, the way it’s done gives more opportunities for the smaller states to have a say in who is going to be president that have different values than California.

I’m from England and I couldn’t disagree more with all due respect.

That’s fine, but I will say it’s one of the best ways to vote anywhere on the planet. It’s one of the reasons we are a republic not a democracy and I wouldn’t change how it’s done.

England is screwed my friend, good luck over there :)

Where I live for milk and bread your paying near £4.
Haven’t bought bread in so many years. We only use heavy whipping cream and it’s 5 dollars for 16 oz. Our eating lifestyle is so expensive!

The minimum wage is too low.
If we adjust for inflation, is it the lowest it has ever been, relatively speaking.

That being said, local markets tend to better dictate "minimum wage."
For example, the only way labor can be found in this market, is to offer semi-competitive wages.

Definitely agree that the minimum wage is too low, as you mention it hasn't kept pace with inflation at all. The minimum wage should be a living wage. Something we are close to here in New Zealand but we are not quite there. Our minimum wage is $21.20 whereas living wage is $23.65. That is NZD of course haha.
