A dog that went missing ten years ago has been reunited with its owners after turning up just 20 miles away.
Staffordshire Bull terrier Chance disappeared from the back garden of his home in south Wales in 2004.
At the time distraught owner Julie Coombes put up posters and also took to the internet in an effort to find him.
But eventually she was forced to give up hope of finding Chance, who had originally been bought as a pet for her 11-year-old son Sion.
Then recently, an astonished Julie received a call to say that her dog had been discovered just 20 miles away.
Initially, Julie thought there had been a mistake as her current two dogs were safe and well in the house.
It was only when she was told that the dog in question was a black and white bull terrier that she realised it was Chance.
Chance was discovered in an underpass in Newport and his age and condition meant he was close to being put down.
But when vets scanned him they discovered a microchip with Julie's details.
It isn't know what happened to Chance during his missing years but according to Julie he recognised herself and son Sion, now 21, straight away.
Chance has now moved in with Sion, who says he is determined to give him the best life possible.

Amazing and this is why it's so important to microchip pets.
