Today, a flight carrying 239 people to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur disappeared mid-flight. Air traffic controllers lost contact with the flight around 2:40pm.

The aircraft was piloted by Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah and First Officer Fariq Ab.Hamid. Shah has 18,365 total flight hours, and Hamid has 2,763 hours. Both were experienced.

Malaysia Airlines is currently working with various governments to organize Search and Rescue. Ships have already been sent out to comb the sea, even though most of the route is over land.

The aerial search has been halted for the night but sea operations continue.

No wreckage has been reported by the airline, but Vietnamese planes reported seeing oil slicks in the sea.

The Vietnamese government said two slicks, about 15km (9 miles) long, were consistent with those that could be left by an airliner and had been detected off the coast of southern Vietnam.

This is horrible. It would take a miracle for anyone aboard to have survived this crash into the sea. My heart goes out to all who had family and/or friends aboard this airplane.

Crazy, what if they never find it? Maybe they warped to another dimension or something.

Does make you wonder if it was hijacked or something. Is very odd how there doesn't seem to be any trace of it, only oil slicks located.

Suspected Fragments Found
Suspected fragments from the missing Malaysia Airlines plane carrying 239 people have been found off Vietnam.

The Vietnamese navy said objects, one thought to be an aircraft door, were spotted by a rescue plane off the country's south coast.

Security services are investigating whether the Boeing 777-200 was destroyed in a terror attack.

Interpol said at least two passports used on the flight were stolen and it is "examining additional suspect passports".

The international police agency said it was of "great concern" that passengers were able to board the plane using stolen passports, and no checks were made against its database.

Flight MH370 disappeared two days ago off Vietnam's south coast.

The search area has been widened after radar data indicated the plane may have turned back.

The FBI and Boeing have joined the investigation after it was revealed four passengers may have been travelling on false passports.

Malaysia's defence and transport minister Hishamuddin Hussein told a news conference in Kuala Lumpur: "All the four names are with me."

Asked whether he believes the plane was hijacked, he would only say: "We are looking at all possibilities."

It emerged on Saturday that two men boarded the plane using stolen European passports.

They bought their tickets together and paid for them in Thai baht, Sky News has learned, and were due to fly on to Europe from Beijing.

The plane was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it vanished around two hours into the flight.

(Reuters) - Officials investigating the disappearance of a Malaysian airliner with 239 people on board are narrowing the focus of their inquiries on the possibility that it disintegrated mid-flight, a senior source said on Sunday.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 vanished after climbing to a cruising altitude of 35,000 feet between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing in the early hours of Saturday. Search teams have not been able to make any confirmed discovery of wreckage in seas beneath the plane's flight path almost 48 hours after it took off.

"The fact that we are unable to find any debris so far appears to indicate that the aircraft is likely to have disintegrated at around 35,000 feet," said the source, who is involved in the preliminary investigations in Malaysia.

Dad's already going on about his conspiracy theory's and how the CIA were no doubt involved.

I think it was a bomb.

Missing Malaysia Airlines Plane Remains Mystery
nvestigators say a yellow object seen floating in the sea is not a life raft from the Malaysia Airlines plane that disappeared with 239 people on board.

The reported sighting, made by the crew of a Vietnamese jet around 90 miles southwest of Tho Chu island, was another false alert for the teams of rescuers searching for flight MH370.

Meanwhile, samples of oil taken from a slick in the South China Sea, which it was hoped would provide closure for relatives of those on board, are reportedly not from the aircraft.

The oil was used in shipping, rather than aviation, a spokeswoman for the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency told the AFP news agency.

Authorities have said they are "puzzled" by the plane's "unprecedented" disappearance mid-flight between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing.

Security services are investigating whether the Boeing 777-200 was hijacked or destroyed in a terror attack.

Earlier reports of debris spotted in the South China Sea, including an aircraft door, have not been confirmed, while a possible sighting of a section of the plane's tail has been ruled out.

Military radar suggests the missing Malaysia Airlines plane turned west, away from its planned route, before vanishing, Malaysia's air force says.

Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing went missing on Saturday, after taking off with 239 people on board.

The international search for any wreckage has been widened.

the Chinese are going to 'hit the ceiling' over this just being released now. and they're right to do so

According to the last message from Malay Air Traffic Control, they had handed off the plane to Vietnam's system.

Now, the debate becomes "who was in charge of the thing when it 'went missing'?"

And from watching the international coverage of the last 48 hours of the search I have gotten one distinct impression:

The Malay authorities, civilian and military, have no idea what they are doing and how to handle the situation, but they are too proud to officially ask for help.

The US has sent surveillance teams to the Indian Ocean to help search for the missing Malaysian plane, after claims emerged that it may have flown for longer than investigators had thought.

Unnamed officials said the plane sent signals to satellites for up to five hours after its apparent disappearance.

However, investigators said the data were not conclusive and Malaysia refused to comment on the claims.

(Reuters) - Military radar data suggests a Malaysia Airlines jetliner missing for nearly a week was deliberately flown hundreds of miles off course, heightening suspicions of foul play among investigators, sources told Reuters on Friday.

Analysis of the Malaysia data suggests the plane, with 239 people on board, diverted from its intended northeast route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing and flew west instead, using airline flight corridors normally employed for routes to the Middle East and Europe, said sources familiar with investigations into the Boeing 777's disappearance.

Two sources said an unidentified aircraft that investigators believe was Flight MH370 was following a route between navigational waypoints when it was last plotted on military radar off the country's northwest coast.

This indicates that it was either being flown by the pilots or someone with knowledge of those waypoints, the sources said.

The last plot on the military radar's tracking suggested the plane was flying toward India's Andaman Islands, a chain of isles between the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, they said.

More:
The communications systems of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 were deliberately disabled, Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak has said.

According to satellite and radar evidence, he said, the plane then changed course and could have continued flying for a further seven hours.

He said the "movements are consistent with the deliberate action of someone on the plane".

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (CBS News/CBSDC/AP) — A Malaysian government official says investigators have concluded that one of the pilots or someone else with flying experience hijacked the missing Malaysia Airlines jet.

The official, who is involved in the investigation, says no motive has been established, and it is not yet clear where the plane was taken. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media.

The official said that hijacking was no longer a theory. “It is conclusive.”

i'm from malaysia...i feel very bad for them(family, friends)maybe the plane hijacked by terrorists...right now the plane still fly...10 day still not comeback

I feel bad for them too Amir. It's terrible not knowing if your loved ones/friends are still alive or dead. No one knows, at this point, where this plane is. Could have landed somewhere or crashed into the sea. Looking for this plane is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

one thing...if they hijack the plane...one of them must be know about plane...

I believe that is correct. I also believe to never give up hope. It isn't over until we all know for sure it is.
