When you hire mods, do you put them on trial first? (eg limiting their power)

well some people that were mods first then became admin.

but usually they have to be a member for a long time until i can trust them.

Some forums have an intern position, which is where the admins can watch and see if the member is ready to be staff.

I don't. When I hire moderators I expect them to be mature enough to handle the job and the tools. If they don't, I'll have a chat with them to see if they are suitable for the job, if not.... then they go back to being an ordinary member.

Same here. I've been on sites where they hold trials for seemingly candidates, but really, you should kind of watch them the whole time they're on staff. Not just one or two weeks. Because you never know, moderators could mess up anytime. Well, you should at least watch them until they can be fully trusted, anyway.
