Here's something Ive noticed lately on forums out there...

People do just about anything for a dollar or two. Whether it be posting a couple thousand times on a forum or spend hours trying to design a graphic for someone. BUT out in the real world if someone offered them a dollar or two to do something, chances they will decline if it requires any extensive effort.

Whats up with this? Anyone else notice this?

I think people do this on forums to impress other members or to make themselves look better than other members. They find the recognition rewarding and most likely they don't get that same recognition in RL.

You know, that's a good way to think of it, to be honest. I've seen this a lot on promotion forums, where people request to have something made, and they will only offer it in forum currency, but people will say things like, No, I have to be paid in actual money; via PayPal (or whatever method they have in mind). It's kind of annoying, really. Also, you see all these forum posting services popping up just as fast as promotion forums themselves, where you pay to have people post high quality posts on your board.
