HHS approves 200 more new healthcare reform waivers

By Julian Pecquet - 05/13/11 04:52 PM ET

The Obama administration approved 204 new waivers to Democrats' healthcare reform law over the past month, bringing the total to 1,372.

The waivers are temporary and only apply to one provision of the law, which requires health plans to offer at least $750,000 worth of annual medical benefits before leaving patients to fend for themselves. Still, Republicans have assailed the waivers as a sign of both favoritism and of major problems with the law.

Anyway, I don't see how possible corruption on Nancy Pelosi's part does anything to disuade one from supporting a public option.

Do you really want to go looking into news outlets with political connections and comparing who's who in the zoo and discussion which ones are more credible than others? (hint before you answer: George Soros)

The point was that this administration and current Congress (curse - spit) is just as corrupt, if not even more so, than every other one since the end of the War Between The States. All that is missing is a cute yet all encompassing name for it like The Teapot Dome Scandal, Watergate, Iran Contra, or Whitewater.

In the case of health care, a single-payer system would be setup such that one entity—a government run organization—would collect all health care fees, and pay out all health care costs.

So Britain doesn't have a single payer system?

Well, according to what you quoted, no. The NHS is run by the Government, but you can still get private health care insurer's, if you want private care.

Oh, yes, Nationalized heath care keeps costs down and makes the budget go further and evens out care across all classes.

Yes sir.

This would have nothing to do with the massive cuts that the conservative party has enacted of course.

Which is how it should be.

Yes, and? The NHS has helped many people, and it may have some faults, but if the NHS wasn't there, then my mother may not have been able to pay for private insurance for my appendicitis operation, or for my Grandad to have a heart bypass. You can get most medications off the NHS, and you can pay for the dentist through the NHS.
