I go to a church where the majority of the people are elderly...75 years and more. It's been a couple of years since someone has passed, but soon another one will be called to the Lord. She was a friend and in my choir when I led it. I'm already mourning her passing even though she's still around.

When you know someone is ready to die, do you start mourning them? I'm really sad that I won't see her at church anymore.

I've been told that we should celebrate their 'going home'.

But then I point out to whoever said that, that we are still stuck down here in the mud, and we have to go on without them, which is sad.

Yes, LIFE goes on, but it is different without them. And it is seldom better.

So we mourn.

And there is nothing wrong with that.
