Move in near a sex-offender?

We all can check if sex offenders live in our immediate areas online, at least those of us in the USA, not sure about other countries.

The question is.. Would you move in across the street from a sex-offender? Assuming you checked online and knew one lived across the street?

No, because I have a child. I think one lives within a few blocks of me though. But then again, it's not like I let my kid wander the neighborhood alone or anything.

They have a right to live where they want and I have a right to live where I want. In short, due to crimes against children, I would not want to live across the street from one.

The only reason I can come up with is .. the offender holds more rights than the victim, their families, or the community in general.

Convicted, and/or self-confessed sex offenders, in particular, child sex offenders, as far as I am concerned, 'rehabilitated' or not, hold no right to live in a civilized community, unless they agree to either chemical or surgical castration.

Feral animals .. just shouldn't be allowed to roam our streets at will ..seeking their next prey.

I might come across as extreme and radical in my opinions on this, but hey .. guess it's just a reaction to the extreme and radical laws here in Australia.

No one was placing all sex offenders in the same category. Even still though .. those animals that expose themselves, also need a bunch of medical intervention to stop the urge.

And if they don't feel obligated to partake in said treatment .. then they don't deserve to live in society either.

My point is look at their crimes and see what they actually did to get the label...

Over here .. the ability to find out the nature of their crimes, or even who they are, is not an option for us.

I bought up pedo's .. because THAT kinda sex offense .. is most relevant and predominate in Australian society ..so of course it will be the one I refer to in the first instance.

That would make me crazed. You can have some whacko who has a thing for kids living right next door and you aren't allowed to know?? Sounds like communism to me. How can you stand that?!

I can't stand it. It really drives me crazy to know that our suburbs are absolutely crawling with child sex rapists ..and that they, above everyone else, are protected.

When our child sex offenders are released .. most have very simple conditions placed on their parole .. they are not allowed to live within, I believe it is 300 meters of at school, and they need to report to Police one a week.

That's it.

Which is why I use the site provided to show me exactly what the people listed did to get themselves on the offenders list.

Yeah the site I check lists their exact crimes too.
It has a picture of the person and their Address, Known Aliases, Date of Birth, Height, Weight, Eye Color, Hair Color, Ethnicity, Year of Last Conviction, Year of Last Release, etc

In fact because of this thread I just looked up my neighborhood right now and there is a few more within blocks of me.

Their crimes include:

"POSSESS OR CONTROL OBSCENE MATTER DEPICTING MINOR IN SEXUAL CONDUCT"

"LEWD OR LASCIVIOUS ACTS WITH A CHILD UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE"

"ORAL COPULATION WITH A MINOR UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE OR BY FORCE OR FEAR"

"SODOMY WITH PERSON UNDER 14 YEARS OR WITH FORCE"
