A mother who was interviewed by police after posting a picture on Facebook of a two-year-old boy with Down’s syndrome in a washing machine has been featured in a new video in which she can be seen throwing the same toddler around a bouncy castle.

Courtney Stewart, 21, defended her actions after she faced a storm of criticism for the washing machine picture, and wrote in a follow-up post that the toddler in question ‘loves washing machines’.

In the wake of the incident, a ‘concerned mother’ passed a video onto the Daily Record in which Ms Stewart, from Erskine, Renfrewshire can be seen throwing the same two-year-old boy around a bouncy castle, dropping him from shoulder height and dragging him by the ankle.

The source in question told the Record it was ‘horrendous to watch’ and that Ms Stewart was ‘far too boisterous’.

She added that ‘other parents took their kids off’ the bouncy castle to keep them away from her.

‘Something has to be done about this,’ she said.

The footage has divided internet users into two extremes. One user wrote on Twitter: ‘This is beginning to look like a witch hunt’ while another posted ‘All I can see is a mum having fun with her son’.

But other users were scathing in their criticism of Ms Stewart.

‘She’s gonna seriously harm that child is that what it’s gonna take for the police to arrest her?’ wrote one.

‘I can’t imagine what his home life is like. Child services needs to be involved,’ adds another.

John Hay, who co-owns the Pandamonium play centre in Erskine where the footage was taken told the Record: ‘Our staff are trained to be very vigilant and diligent.

‘I am disappointed though that this happened and we were not made aware of it at the time.’

Thoughts?

It does look like she's being pretty rough by throwing him down like that and the way she's dragging him around like a rag doll. I wouldn't do that to my kids. I will admit that looks disturbing.

I totally agree with this quote from the article. First she holds the washing machine door shut and now this. This is child abuse and hopefully they help this child before it's too late.
