I just had a quick search of the forum and there didn't seem to be anything like this on here already...
As some of you may know, I have a blog called Loucifer Speaks where I review music and post music news and stuff. After a short break due to uni and work commitments, I have recently started to post on there again (and by "recently" I mean today!
) and I thought it would be a nice idea to share my reviews with you on here as well. So, I will (providing that's ok with the admins!). Plus, I really wanted share my excitement about the new Sidious album!
I've called this thread "Music Reviews" because I don't just want it to be me in here - please feel free to post your own reviews in here too
Comments about the albums, EPs, songs, gigs, etc are very welcome too!
Here's a review to get us started...

It wasn’t too long ago that I was getting all excited over Sidious’ EP and now the time for the new album has come! YIPPEE! Ok, due to my rubbish schedule at the moment, this album has been in my possession for quite a while, but I’ve now finally got around to reviewing it. Once again, it’s a case of ‘better late than never’.
“Revealed in Profane Splendour” is a tumultuous descent into the Hell. The band continues to use the heady mix of melody and sheer brutality used on the EP to create something that will knock you on your arse, have you bleeding from every available orifice while still lodging itself in your brain like a happy little ear worm. Sidious have created an entirely memorable album with this little beauty.
The album opens with the dark and powerful “Sacrilegious Majesty” which sets the tone for what’s to come. This track has a BIG sound. It’s huge. In fact, this whole album sounds utterly gigantic. The haunting symphonic parts coupled with the dirty and evil sounding Blackened Death Metal makes me think that this album could be the theme music for some gigantuan demigod. This is especially the case in the title track. You can just imagine said demigod marching forth, step by sulphur-ridden step, during the slower moments, while the drums fire behind it like machine gun fire. Basically folks, it does not get much better than this.
Last time I compared Sidious’ music to that of bands such as Behemoth and Abused Majesty (this reminds me – I really should listen to Abused Majesty again!) and, while those comparisions are still relevant, I feel like we’re now just giving them a respectful nod. The sound on this album belongs to Sidious.
I’m finding it hard to pick a favourite track – every single one is a winner in my book. You know when you hear albums that are just ‘right’? This is one of them for me. It’s right up my alley, it’s my cup of tea and it well and truly floats my boat (in a crimson sea of despair, obviously). See (or hear??) for yourself below:
