A North Carolina teenager who spoke out against gun violence has been killed in a gunfight between two gangs.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that 19-year-old Ravon Jordan was shot in the head Sunday during a gunfight at a house party attended by dozens of teens. The newspaper quoted Police Chief Howard Medlock as saying the gang members fired at least 70 shots.

Authorities said Jordan died Monday.

Last month, Jordan told members of the Fayetteville, N.C., City Council that violence in the city needed to stop. He advocated for closing an apartment complex where he said at least four homicides had occurred.

"Just a good kid all around," Thomas Benson, principal at Westover High School, where Jordan was a popular student, told the Observer. "A lot of our students knew him. It was unfortunate that we lost him. He had a lot of potential."

Fayetteville police spokesman Lt. Todd Joyce said authorities are looking for clues from surveillance footage recorded near the house where the party occurred.

On Tuesday, police released surveillance footage of the group believed to be responsible for the shooting at a convenience store not far away from where the incident occurred. Images show the group walking around a four-door Buick Sedan parked at the store early Sunday morning, after the shooting took place.
