I thankfully have never been in a situation like that but I do know of other people who from one day to the next, almost died due to simple accidents. Some, car related others due to falls and other day-to-day things that we don't think of as being lethal.

After you've come across a couple of these scenarios it really makes you think how close we are all from death and how a life can be changed from 1 day to the next as although these people are now alive, when they almost died, this event changed their lives and that of their families.

Has anyone ever been in a near death situation themselves?

Probably what I've mentioned in this thread.

My car broke down on a bridge one night on the way home from San Fransisco.. Before it broke down it let out a massive amount of smoke.. Enough to cloud anyone's vision. Being on a bridge, there is no where pull over. While my car was slowing to a stop, I see headlights through the smoke coming at me at full speed.. I brace myself for impact and certain death.. My legs tightened and I guess I put my foot on the break pedal.. My break lights then lit up and the driver of the car (which happened to be a hummer of all things) jerked the wheel at the last second and ended up just hitting the left side of car leaving some damage but thats better than getting killed!

Needless to say I jumped out of the car right after that happened, walked a good distance away from it, and waited for a police car to come. They pushed me off the bridge and I called my friend's aunt for a ride back to her place.

I've been the car with drivers who were coming in and out of consciousness. I had to be extra alert to keep the driver awake and myself alive. Once when I was a kid my dad drove off the side of the road into a ditch because he dozed off (and was drunk  ). I was asleep too and when I woke up there was cops everywhere and my dad was being arrested. Mom had to come get me.

Wow, I see you've had a few already.

I had a minor incident with drowning when I was learning to swim but in reality, it would have been highly unlikely that I would of actually drowned as someone was next to me. But since I was just learning, it felt like the end was near as it was the first time I had submerged myself that deep into water. So it was more of a "imagined" NDE.

Well it was scary enough for you to remember. :P
