I'd report them don't use something you can't afford plus theirs many open source forum's that are awesome & can pull off as much as they can do.

Guess I'll posts my replies from another forum..

Well Ive never actually reported a board but I have the links handy for those who wish to use them.

Using a nulled forum shows a lack of dedication and poor administration qualities. If the board does get shut down, there is nobody to blame except the person who installed the nulled software on the server in the 1st place. Try to rationalize it and place the blame on the whistle blowers or the software's piracy staff if you want but that does not make it any less the admin's fault.

If someone was serious about their forum they would not put their forum in a situation where legal actions could take it down in a quickness. There is plenty of free alternatives like phpbb, smf, mybb, etc..

I don't mind personally, it's the same as downloading movies or music. People are going to do it either way so you just get used to it.

Its not the same because regular members might pour their time and effort into contributing to a community / unknowingly contributing to something that is illegal and might get shut down without a moments notice.

I don't mean to sound dumb but how as a member would I know if a forum is using nulled software?

You wouldn't know unless someone told you I suppose.

No, I wouldn't run a forum on nulled software. Beyond being morally corrupt, it's risky. Use free software if you can not afford paid software. It's not really the software that makes the community as it is the people who make the community. As far as reporting nulled forums, I sure would, because stealing software is no different than stealing from a brick and mortar store.

I would be strongly concerned about the security issues on that community. You could run the very large risk of there being a back door and also risk a lot of personal information about your and your community to someone else. So I can not say, I respect piracy very well in regarding to those who elect to use nulled communities.

I would never consider using a nulled script for beta testing or any other reason. It's not fair to the developers, owners of the software and it's stealing

I've never used a nulled script before except on my localhost just to test the software, but I have reported people before.

These days, it's suicide. Someone could sneak in a virus to the code and when the user uploads and runs the forum, well, you could understand where that'll go.

In IPB, the most obvious way is look at the copyright footer. In this case (Off Topix), a legal IPB footer copyright (assuming copyright removal isn't purchased) will link to the IPS site. Nulled IPB licenses will not link back.

I would never use a nulled version of the software, they put the effort in to make it so deserve the credit. If I supsected a site used a nulled version then it would be reported.

Whenever I was just starting out I did some things that weren't peachy, I wasn't aware I was even doing anything wrong at first admittedly because I was younger and I thought that my partner did have a license, as he made the board, then learned other-wise. I didn't really know much about licenses anyway at the time, not trying to make excuses. I'm not proud of it and I'll never do it again, but I look at it as a learning experience.

I wouldn't use illegal software and I wouldn't remain on a forum if I

found out the Admin did. If I knew and still stayed, that would make

me as bad as the Admin.

I agree with all that Nebulous said above in post # 3 and I think I'd report it.
