A Melbourne nurse has been sacked after being caught on Skype stealing a new dad's wallet.
The father was using Skype in the Epworth Hospital to tell his father in Greece about his newborn child.
He stepped away from the computer briefly but his father remained on the line and watched in shock while a staff member pocketed his son's wallet.
On returned, the father said "My son, you've just been robbed". The man pursued the matter with the hospital and the nurse admitted to the theft.
The Epworth confirmed the story to 3AW Breakfast.
A spokesperson said the hospital was "shocked".
Chrysa, the young mother of the baby, told Neil Mitchell she wasn't too worried about the money but it was the breach of trust which hurt the most.
"It wasn't much [money]. But it's not right from a nurse and I was worried. How can I feel safe?" she said.
They said the staff member has been dismissed and will never be employed by any branch of the Epworth again.
The hospital also said such thefts are a major problem at all hospitals, and the Epworth is taking major steps with CCTV to crack down on thefts.

Crazy, and I agree with Chrysa that it's a breach of trust more than anything else.
I mean, you're there potentially trusting these people with your life, but if they're so unprofessional you can barely trust them with your belongings, there's big issues.
