The historical Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfest celebrates its 200th birthday and the whole world is celebrating with it. That is why the city of Munich has organized a special Oktoberfest in historical style in the south of the normal Oktoberfest area.

What is the historical Oktoberfest?

The Historical Oktoberfest takes place only in 2010 because of the 200th anniversary of the Oktoberfest. Like in old times the historcal Wiesn is quiet and family-friendly. There is a historical beer tent with traditional decoration and a special beer, only brewed for the event by the Munich breweries. In the tent Herzkasperl you'll be entertained by German and Bavarian artists. There is also an animal tent with different species of farm and domestic animals and a museum tent, where you can visit historical objects of the Oktoberfest. Like in the early Wiesn years you can see horse races every day at 1.00 and 6.00pm.

Opening time

The historical Octoberfest starts with a ceremonial act one day earlier than the normal Wiesn, on 17th September 2010. It is open every day from 10.00am to 8.00pm, so it closes earlier than the Oktoberfest tents. The historical Oktoberfest will close on 4th October like the normal Wiesn.

Location and arrival

It's located on the southern part of the Theresienwiese, right next to the normal Oktoberfest. By public transport you get directly to the historical Oktoberfest when you take the U3/U6 to Poccistraße.

Prices

The historical Octoberfest costs - in contrast to the normal Oktoberfest, which is free - a 4,00€ entry fee. The horse races and the cultural programme is included. A ride on an old carousel costs only 1,00€ extra.

Anyway, what is your favorite kind of beer?
