So, I just signed it out from the library. I've heard the movie is amazing. I want to see the movie, but need a fiction for English. Has anyone else read this book? Is it any good?

I've never seen the movie, but the book is...wow. Psychiatric hospitals now aren't so bad. I've been in one. It makes it seem horrible, which it may have been. Definitely read it if you're into that sort of thing. If you're reading it for English, it's not unbearable.

That's the thing. I'm in the chunk of my last year English where I can read any fiction, as long as it is not Canadian. So it is a good read? I'm starting it tomorrow. I'm reading the fiction Different Seasons by Stephen King. It has a few shorter works in it, like the Shawshank Redemption. But should be done in a few hours.

Is the story line good? It caught me with the back cover. And is it actually written as well as critics hold it?

Depends on your definition of 'good.' It's one of those thought provoking books in my opinion. I think you should read it. It didn't take me long so it wouldn't hurt to read it. Even if you don't read it for English, read it just for your own sake. It's one of those 'fuck the authority and being controlled to be like everyone else and not doing anything with your life' books. Inspirational. Especially the guy who's faking it. He inspires a lot of other people, so even though he's in one way defeated, she couldn't kill them all.

But it's not very nice about women. Not that I mind. The ending was quite symbolic, by what the narrator does, but then it's one of those annoyingly ambiguous endings. I read it because my WFW teacher said it explored psychology quite a bit. So, read it.
