OnLive's founder Steve Perlman and BT's Warren Buckley say the technology they are showing off at the 2011 Eurogamer Expo will utterly transform gaming in the UK.

Backed by telecom giant BT, OnLive has launched its brand new on-demand video game service at the 2011 Eurogamer Expo, the UK's biggest gaming convention, at Earls Court in London.

The gaming service uses video compression technology to deliver high-quality games over the internet without the need for a console.

Since the games run in OnLive's data hub, users can even play games on their television and most low-performance computers.

You have multi-gaming that is platform independent, you don't even know what kind of device the other person is on, they could be on Android, they could be on IOS, they could be on PC Mac, they could be on a TV... said OnLive Founder and CEO Steve Perlman.

“OnLive will utterly transform gaming in the UK, he added.

BT are offering three months free and unlimited access to a PlayPack of new and old titles, from Batman: Arkham Asylum to Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition to their existing subscribers. Users can play on their HDTV via the OnLive Game System or on any PC, Mac or tablet via a small browser download.

“We just want to give our customers the chance to try it, and with more than 100 premium games available, choosing what to play will be the hardest part,” said Warren Buckley, managing director of BT Retail’s Customer Service.
