So lately for that last month or so, my husband and I have been noticing that at night out neighborhood and the adjacent areas surrounding it smell like sulfur.

We have looked into what this means if it comes from inside the home, and thankfully it isnt. It is coming from outside. My husband said that he smells it too when he is driving through the areas closest to our neighborhood at night.

At first I thought it was sour diesel (weed strain that smells like skunk) but the longer it lingered, I realized that it was sulfur.. and this wasnt a problem we had last year.. typically at night the only thing we'd smell is the neighbors using their fireplaces..

Has this ever happened to you? If so what did you do?

Has this ever happened to you?
Only driving through certain stretches of parts in southern Louisiana; and the water tastes weird there, too. I've been told that it's in the water/ground, just a natural part of the environment. Wouldn't be happening in your neighborhood, I don't think.
Sometimes natural gas or propane companies will add a foul-smelling agent to their product so that a leak can be easily detected.
Possibly a failing or overflowing septic tank in the area?

I don't think there is septic around here.. we have a sewer system..

The smell has since dissipated though.. I think it is from one of the neighbors.. I hope it isn't a gas leak..

And yeah I know what you mean.. some parts of Virginia are like that too and it isn't just in the rural areas either.. the water was like that in Virginia Beach too..
